*based in Tokyo*
WEB Director, amateur photographer.
(Used to be a graphic / web designer.)
I was born in Nagasaki, but grew up in Hiroshima, Japan.
I played classic piano from 3 – 18 years old, but my passion was art and design (and is to this day). After graduating from High School, I studied fashion design at Esmod Japon, in Osaka, Japan.
*Photography*
My great-grandfather, grandfather and father were deeply involved in Photography, they loved their cameras. My Grandpa always gave me compact cameras as gifts for special occasions. Then, when I was 18, my father gave me his old film SLR. I gradually became more interested in photography, and from there everything blossomed.
- That was how it all started. -
*Art and Design*
I love “surrealist”, “contemporary” and “avant-garde” arts. I’m not an escapist, but I really love the unrealistic world. I’m interested in imaginative, yet unrealistic art; it’s not real, but there is still meaning. I am inspired by painters, photographers, sculptors, designers or any creator within a medium which conveys that which we cannot easily see in our daily lives. My favorite artists are those that think beyond the confines of their craft and push the boundaries of creativity in general. I am inspired by dreams, and dreams inspire me.
- I paint what cannot be photographed, that which comes from the imagination or from dreams, or from an unconscious drive.- Man Ray, 1890-1976
*New York*
What is your favorite place? Mine is NY. I moved there when I was 20 and really enjoyed it. New York is inspiring, full of energy and full of limitless potential. The world looks to New York as its cultural center because all cultures converge there; as a result, the (endless) contributions of creative individuals- overlapping, inspiring, affecting and influencing each other across all mediums (i.e., theater, music, dance, art, etc)-resolves in a way that only New York can offer. Everyday the rules are being re-written. When one is in New York, one can only feel like the world is really full of endless possibility.
- I love NY -
*Music*
Who can live without music? I love Rock, Electronica, Ambient, Alternative, Classic.
Music helps me to see things as they truly are; ever changing, feeling and experiencing the world which we live in. Music serves as a backdrop to the canvas upon which my images paint, and helps drive my creativity and sense of wonder.
- Excuse me while I kiss the sky. – Jimi Hendrix, 1942-1970
*Movie, Short film*
I also cannot live without movies. I watch many movies but prefer independent ones.
- A film is – or should be – more like music than like fiction. It should be a progression of moods and feelings. The theme, what’s behind the emotion, the meaning, all that comes later. – Stanley Kubrick, 1928-1999
